Strategic research areas

CY Cergy Paris University – a multidisciplinary university to meet the needs and expectations of everyone.

CY Alliance brings together researchers from all disciplines except health.

It is organised into five graduate schools, four of which are run directly by CY Cergy Paris University and the fifth by the ESSEC. The research conducted at CY can be divided into four main academic areas:

• Experimental and modelling sciences;

• Engineering;

• Economics, business, law, and politics;

• Social sciences, arts, and education.

The university further promotes cross-cutting and multidisciplinary collaborations, particularly with external partners, in the following fields:

  • Patrimonialisation and creation;
  • Health, cosmetics, and luxury products;
  • Smart regions, mobility, energy;
  • Crime, security, society.

Three research federations facilitate cross-cutting exchanges and the development of multidisciplinary projects:

  • L’Institut des Matériaux (I-MAT) seeks to promote research on materials-related topics. I-MAT takes an active part in basic and applied research via synergies between the federation’s laboratories.

  • L’Institut des Humanités Numériques (IDHN) together with the Domaine d’Intérêt Majeur Sciences du Texte et Connaissances Nouvelles, of which CY Cergy Paris University is a founding member and partner. IDHN’s aim is to conduct and develop research activities in Digital Humanities at CY Cergy Paris University.

  • L'Institut des Sciences de la Sécurité (I2S), under the supervision of CY and the Pôle Judiciaire de la Gendarmerie Nationale (PJGN). Its mission is to create research, training, and development synergies in the fields of security and forensics.
